In its fourth consecutive year, NET/WORK Suburbs reminds us that not all of the great jobs in tech exist within city limits.
NET/WORK Suburbs is quite different from our annual NET/WORK Philly event — which, if you attended in 2019, you know is huge, bringing out 55 local employers and around 800 talented jobseekers.
In the ‘burbs we get much more direct with about 20 suburban employers and a couple hundred jobseekers, providing a little more elbow room and plenty of time to get to know one another.
This year’s event is graciously hosted in the Chesterbrook headquarters of Deacom, the popular tech employer currently expanding teams here and abroad.
It’s important for recruiters and jobseekers to note: A Technical.ly jobs fair is unlike any other. We keep things casual. We have beer. We have snacks. And cornhole. All is good and easy in this hiring world.
So what’s the real why?
Employers: You need to be where the talent is. Your LinkedIn ads aren’t landing in the right hands. The Technical.ly Talent community is made up of informed, experienced and motivated individuals. We’re headed into the final quarter of the year, which means this is a great opportunity to brand your organization and make the fresh connections you need to fulfill your company’s big 2020 vision.
Jobseekers: Your online job application is getting lost in the shuffle. Push yourself to do more for your career. Every new conversation will push you closer to what’s next. This event is free, too — you truly have nothing to lose.
And listen, if the idea of attending a career fair feels horrifying to you and you much prefer the safety of applying to jobs from behind your screen (subsequently entering that black hole of “Apply” then dead silence), we have some tips for you. A guest post written a couple of years ago by Think Company’s John Young, “Thoughts from the hiring side of the job-fair table,” still stands true and has some great quips that promise your awkwardness approaching the table is just a good sign that you’re human too.
For those who are actively seeking what’s next, or even simply curious to know what is out there, NET/WORK is the tried and true event for connecting with employers and the Technical.ly reader community. See you there for conversation, headshots, resume reviews, a beer and hey, maybe a game or two of cornhole.
Hiring companies should contact us to learn more and jobseekers should stop hesitating and just register now!
