As the Philly region continues to rise in the ranks as an esports leader, NBC Sports Philadelphia will be documenting the journey of organizations like Nerd Street Gamers (NSG) and the Philadelphia Fusion in a new 10-episode show, the former announced Wednesday.
“FTW Philly,” airing Friday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC Sports Philadelphia+, and replay on NBC Sports Philadelphia, will feature the world of competitive gaming across the region from Harrisburg to Atlantic City, NSG said in a statement.
A pilot episode aired in September, with a feature on the players and stories behind The Reversal, a national championship series fighting game tournament held in Philadelphia. Viewers can catch the rest of the series Friday nights starting this week, on Oct. 25.

“We’re showcasing the excitement of esports to both gamers and non-gamers alike,” said NSG CEO John Fazio in a statement. “This series is a win for the community, and will further our company’s mission to make esports more welcoming and accessible to all gamers.”
Marisa Magnatta, producer of the “Preston and Steve Show,” will return to host the series, which will focus on the traditional live-action sports that are partnering with esports and provide an inside look at some national tournaments being held in the Philadelphia region. The series will also highlight the rapid development of the Philadelphia esports scene, including the recent groundbreaking of the Fusion Arena.
“The interest in esports is spurring fandom across the Philadelphia region,” said NBC Sports Philadelphia Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives Todd Berman. “By creating FTW Philly, we can provide a home so that gamers and non-gamers alike can rally behind the exciting stories that are sure to pique the interest of all sports fans.”
Folks who can’t catch the show live can view episodes on NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com, on the network’s YouTube channel or on NSG’s Twitch account.
