Watch Mayor Nutter moderate a convo between Josh Kopelman and Curalate’s Apu Gupta

How’s this for a lowkey Philly Tech Week event?
First Round Capital’s Josh Kopelman, former Mayor Michael Nutter and Curalate CEO Apu Gupta — all talking about fundraising, building a startup and the state of the Philly tech scene. Plus, Curalate CTO Nick Shiftan and lead research engineer Lou Kratz will show off the technology they’ve been developing.
It’s on May 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Curalate’s office (2401 Walnut St.).

We bet Luke Butler, the Nutter administration staffer who joined Curalate earlier this year, had something to do with this. Since Curalate’s most recent raise in February, we’ve seen the tech company raise its local profile. It makes sense — it’s trying to hire a hundred more employees this year.
“Our goal is to be the employers of choice among tech startups in Philly,” Gupta said to us back in February.
Nutter was a huge tech-scene champion during his time in office, as Gupta himself has pointed out. We wonder if the former mayor will keep engaging with the tech scene or if this is more of a one-time thing.
Either way, should be fun.
