LivingSocial announced Thursday it has appointed Sears Holdings’ Atul Kavthekar as CFO.
“Atul is a seasoned finance leader with deep retail, ecommerce, corporate development and strategic experience, which will be a tremendous asset in shaping the refounding journey at LivingSocial,” CEO Gautam Thakar said in a press release.
Thakar was previously working in Chicago as CFO for Sears Holdings Corporation’s Health and Wellness Solutions unit. He also served the same function at Walgreens’ ecommerce division, where he led mergers and acquisitions and strategic investing.
Kavthekar features M&As prominently in his LinkedIn page. His appointment may signify a new direction for the D.C.-based coupon-centric social platform, which recently sold off its affiliates in SpainNew Zealand and Australia.
