Some prominent diversity and inclusion leaders working in the local tech scene are gathering for a panel discussion on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Ogilvy DC is sponsoring the “Beyond the Buzzwords: Insights into Inclusive Hiring and Culture Building” panel discussion and networking event, and will be hosting it at its office at 1111 19th St. NW. Attendees can expect to come learn about how to better attract and retain diverse employees. The event will specifically focus how on executives and HR representatives can improve workplace cultures.

Tickets to the event are $10 through Tuesday.

Imani Greene, an advertising and communications professional, will moderate the candid discussion. Panelists include:

• Hilliary Turnipseed, leader of the diversity and inclusion practice for boutique talent consultancy, Shadow Search
• Veni Kunche, founder of Diversify Tech and senior software engineer at the U.S. Geological Survey
• Kelly Miller, director at Banner Public Affairs and organizer at Tech, Rebalanced

HousingTech Ventures is hosting this event to explore tech solutions for housing affordability. Six startups with tech solutions for the housing market will demo their products. The free event with complimentary food and drinks will be sponsored by Zillow and Fannie Mae.

Coding Day for Beginners

Coding bootcamp the Flatiron School DC is hosting a full-day educational workshop for beginner coders. Instructors will guide attendees through basic concepts of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Bring your own laptop to participate. The event will break for lunch.
