Organizers will be hosting a town hall next Monday, Oct. 17, which you can RSVP for here.
Last year, the Knight Foundation awarded $2.7 million to 36 winners, following a round of 63 finalists. Tech-related winning ideas included an art collection app from the Barnes Foundation, a smartphone-enabled public art installation from the Fairmount Park Art Association and real-time mobile content for Philadelphia Orchestra audiences.
The challenge lists three rules:
- The idea must be about the arts.
- The project must take place in or benefit Philadelphia.
- The grant recipients must find funds to match Knight’s commitment (within a year).
This summer, the Knight Foundation also hosted a call to fund art journalism initiatives in Philadelphia.
