The Knight Foundation announced nearly 70 finalists for its Knight Arts Challenge, now in its last year of the three-year, $9 million initiative to enrich Philly’s art scene.

The Knight Foundation received more than 1,200 applicants for this go-round, roughly the same number as last year. Winners will be announced in April. Below, we recap the tech-relevant finalists, as described on the Knight Foundation’s website.

In other Knight Foundation news, the organization is planning a News Challenge focused on open government, according to its blog. It’ll begin accepting applications next month.   • Drexel ExCITe Center: To facilitate more interaction across musical genres and engage new audiences with a series of live concerts enhanced with visual technologies. Find more coverage on the Drexel ExCITe Center here, including a photo tour.

  • Play On, Philly! To cultivate students’ music skills by coordinating a multifaceted production and technology initiative that will teach composition, songwriting and more.
