KinderTown, the app store for parents from DreamIt Ventures cofounder Steve Welch, was acquired by Lancaster-based Demme Learning for an undisclosed amount, TechCrunch reported. KinderTown had just under 400,000 users at the time of the acquisition, according to the report.
Demme Learning, an independent publisher of educational products, will take on KinderTown’s team of two remote staffers, but Welch will leave the company’s operations to focus on DreamIt Ventures.
“My focus right now is helping absorb the enormous growth we have seen at DreamIt over the last year,” Welch said in an email to Technical.ly Philly. “With each cycle the number and quality of application is increasing as our brand gets stronger. I want to make sure we continue to capitalize on this opportunity.”
Welch added that he thinks it good for the region that KinderTown is staying roughly in the area, by way of a Lancaster acquirer.
