Falls Church-based private equity firm Kiddar Capital announced on Monday the hire of Principal Cheryl Foil to lead a new tech and innovation venture arm.
Kiddar, a firm that has a strong background in real estate, construction and hospitality investment, is hoping the new venture arm will expand its reach into new innovative companies and startups. Kiddar Capital founder Todd Hitt says Foil is the best woman for the job.
Foil joins Kiddar from digital storytelling platform SocialSamba, where she served as CTO.  She also has experience as CTO for social change startup WishWould and consulting CTO for various startups. “Cheryl is recognized in the market for her leadership roles in technology-focused startups,” Hitt said in a statement. “Her experience in this space allows Kiddar to view these investments with a specialized lens.”
A portion of the new fund will be invested through the 1776 seed fund. The Kiddar Capital venture fund will also invest in Series A and B rounds for companies that fall within the firm’s core focus on real estate, hospitality, construction and smart cities.
