Of a total 259 startups that applied to the InvestMaryland Challenge, just 33 will be given a chance tomorrow to be one of three winners of $100,000 in funding.
As Technically Baltimore has reported, the challenge is the inaugural, early-stage business competition put on by the state of Maryland that will award cash grants to startups in three categories: IT hardware and software, life sciences and a general category that was open to startups across the U.S. (Only Maryland-based startups were eligible to apply for funding in the former two categories.)
According to MDBizNews, the 33 semi-finalists “will participate in 15-minute face-to-face interviews with [the Department of Business and Economic Development] on March 5.” The awards ceremony for the three winners is planned for April 15.
