A few months after expanding to D.C., Industrious is planning a second coworking space in the area.
The new location in Bethesda, expected to open in late summer of this year, will be located at 7200 Wisconsin Ave., Indstrious CEO Jamie Hodari told us via email. Along with coworking, the space will have 95 private offices. The space will also have a common area and cafe, library and spaces for meeting and phone calls. It also plans to host events.
The company is also touting nearby access to transportation options, located within two blocks of the Red Line and is near the Capital Crescent Trail. The building also has a newly renovated fitness center with lockers that will be available to members, and room for bike storage.
“We know people want an office environment where they can be happy and productive, and all the better if they can find that perfect place within a convenient drive or train ride from home,” Hodari said. “We’re looking to expand across the DMV, and Bethesda is the first submarket where we found the perfect building in the perfect location.”
The expansion news comes after company’s D.C. location opened at 1 Thomas Circle in March (which in turn came around the time the company raised $80 million). The expansion is another recent sign that the explosive growth of coworking in D.C. is also sparking interest in Maryland. Spaces opened a new location in Chevy Chase in March, and WeWork announced its first location in College Park soon after.
Industrious is looking to work with companies of all sizes. Hodari said the company sees the mix of larger companies putting down offices and entrepreneurial growth in the area as equally important for the coworking business.
“This market combination is important to us as we service a wide breadth of clients that span across SMBs and Fortune 500 companies,” Hodari said. “As we broaden our vision of providing flexible workspace options to these types of businesses across the U.S. to help them expand and grow, we needed to not only increase our footprint in new geographical areas, but also fortify our hold in our current markets to build out our presence.”
Bethesda, he said, is one area with a diversity of businesses and a demand for flexible workspaces.
“We also considered its proximity to Washington, DC, as a family-friendly urban center with a burgeoning arts and culture scene, making it a perfect next step for potential business growth in the area,” Hodari said.
