Ignite Baltimore 12: two Ignition Grants worth $2,250 awarded

Two more Ignition Grants were awarded at Ignite Baltimore 12 on Thursday night. Each recipient receives $2,250 to complete a project within six months. (More on Ignition Grant criteria here.)
Co-organizer of Ignite Baltimore 12 and Ignition Grant director Kate Bladow provided Technically Baltimore with the details on the new recipients:

• Trash Transformations: Chelsea Sherman and Marquise Matthews of New Lens will work in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood to collect trash and create an archway made from plastic and glass bottles and binded with cement. The hope is to attract residents and visitors to the now vacant community space on Whitelock Street. Once completed, this sculptural archway will be celebrated with a “Trashion Show,” which will feature wearable trash art.
• Bringing the Skies to Baltimore: Southwest Baltimore Charter School is getting its own off-the-shelf planetarium. The Johns Hopkins University Henry Rowland Department of Physics and Astronomy will assist with the construction, and will also teach astronomy at Southwest Baltimore Charter and other city schools. The department will also build a mobile prototype planetarium that can be used in other schools. Grant winners are Rachael Alexandroff, Schyler Wolff, Alexandra Greenbaum and Kevin Fogarty from the JHU Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Outreach. Find them on Twitter at @pags_jhu.
