A New York-based startup expanded its social app for renting a place to Baltimore this week.
Huthunt, which is available for iOS, debuted for the entire metro area on Monday, founder Shawn Tannor said.
The app has features that are designed to help people navigate the process of finding roommates and an apartment together.
“We understand that when you are searching for a space on your own, there may be a few people you trust that have input on your decision,” Tannor said via email. “To help get all of those thoughts in one place, we created a group chat feature where everyone helping with your search can share listings they think you’ll love directly from the app using our broadcast button to the group and get an instant opinion.”

To find a roommate, users can post a profile and swipe through potential matches. If two Huthunt users approve, then they can chat within the app.
Tannor said the startup decided to expand to Baltimore because of the potential market. Census data show that a little more than a third of Charm City residents rent.
