The Consumer Technology Association is hosting a panel Thursday evening that aims to offer some real talk about getting media coverage.

We get a lot of pitches. Trust us. So what’s the best way to cut through the clutter and land in these here web pages?
Today at 4 p.m., the Consumer Technology Association and Crystal City BID are teaming up to offer some answers.
It’s their free Media Training for Startups Workshop and Networking Event, and it features #protips from PR pros and veteran TV bookers.

The event takes place at 1776 Crystal City. From 4-6 they’ll be tackling these questions, according to the event listing:

  • What do reporters and producers want?
  • Write your pitch for the right media
  • Perform like a pro in front of the camera
  • Reality check: My product is PERFECT for ____! Why won’t they cover it?
  • Be an expert: How to earn more media attention by promoting yourself
  • Plug your company without sounding like a salesperson
  • Marketing vs. PR: Which is right for me?
  • Measuring results: What can I expect from getting on TV or featured in a blog?

Then, from 6-8, it’s networking over food and drinks. A good reporter’s true specialty.
