It’s gift-giving season and we’re sure that you, dear hip and trendy member of the #dctech community, are on the hunt for stand-out presents that are locally made. It can be hard to find the perfect gifts for all the characters on your list, which is why we at Technical.ly DC put together this list of tech-y (loosely speaking) things that were created right here in the District.
None of the companies behind these products know we’ve chosen them, and this is in no way a comprehensive list of all potential #dctech gifts. But here’s hoping, humbly, it’ll give you a couple ideas to run with.

For the avid bike commuter: A Riide bike

Riide is making electric bikes cool again. And that’s not just an allusion to how cool, calm and collected you’ll be when you don’t have to pedal uphill (both ways!) to get to work. (RiidePass $79 per month.)

For the liquor lover: Equity in D.C.’s first equity crowdfunded distillery, Republic Restoratives

Women-owned D.C. distillery Republic Restoratives is among the first companies to take part in Indiegogo’s new equity crowdfunding program. For as little as $100 you can buy, and gift, equity in the company. ($100 minimum investment.)

For the fashionista with hometown pride: A Bailiwick t-shirt

Bailiwick Clothing Company makes cool T-shirts, tanks, sweatshirts and hats with District-inspired designs on them. This reporter is a huge fan, and it looks like they’re even having a holiday sale. (Men’s T-shirt, on sale, $20.)

For the kitchen skeptic: A Galley gift card

Know someone in D.C. or Baltimore who doesn’t like to cook? Get them off the hook with a gift card from Ivy City-based food delivery startup Galley. (Choose your own gift card amount.)

For the lifelong learner: A General Assembly workshop or bootcamp

In addition to their full- and part-time courses, General Assembly offers one-day or weekend-long bootcamps at their 15th street and Crystal City campuses. Give the gift of an intro to HTML and CSS with “Coding 101” or learn about Google Analytics or … the list goes on and on. (Prices vary.)
