Framebridge ramps up for more ‘really extraordinary’ growth

Susan Tynan founded Framebridge because she felt, as a consumer, that “it was very hard to get things framed.” The whole process, for Tynan, seemed challenging and time consuming and, worse, once you finally got down to it, expensive.
There must be other people who feel this way, she thought.
Now, around a year and a half after founding an online custom framing company, Tynan can say with certainty that there are a lot of other people who find the old-school framing process to be a hassle. The company has seen “really extraordinary growth” since its launch in August 2014, Tynan told Technical.ly.
Framebridge is staffing up to prepare for that growth — the company officially announced the hire of Kristyn Reed-Salow and Sylvia Yam on Wednesday. Reed-Salow and Yam will serve as CFO and VP of business development, respectively.
The company will also open a new production facility in Kentucky, Tynan told Technical.ly. Framebridge’s first facility is in Lanham, Md.
Reed-Salow joins Framebridge from a host of other CFO jobs at companies including Mantas/Oracle FSS, Fishbowl and Three Stage Media. Yam, for her part, previously worked at FTD Companies and Tiny Prints, which was acquired by Shutterfly.
Tynan is excited to bring on new team members in two strategic areas. Framebridge will be looking to grow through partnerships in the future, something Tynan says Yam has a “terrific mindset” for thinking about. Meanwhile, a CFO is just a new necessity for a growing company. “Our business is just getting more complex,” Tynan said, of why it is important to hire a CFO now.
This latest hiring news piles on to that from December, when Framebridge appointed Anthony Vicars, former director of fulfillment operations at Zappos, as VP of operations.
A year and a half after launch, Framebridge is at the point where “we know this is exciting to people,” Tynan said. As the company staffs up and expands, that’s a good place to be.
