First Round Capital was one of the top five most active venture capital firms in the country, according to a recent report by CB Insights. Here are four deals the University City firm made that were announced this month:

  • FlatIron Health: First Round participated in an $8 million Series A round for the New York City-based “intelligent oncology data platform” from Invite Media cofounders and Penn alumni Nat Turner and Zach Weinberg. [TechCrunch]
  • BillFloat: First Round participated in a $21 million round for the San Francisco-based short-term loan startup. [TechCrunch]
  • Curalate: First Round participated in a $3 million Series A round for the University City-based visual analytics firm. Read our recent update on the startup here.
  • Aereo: First Round participated in a $38 million Series B round for the New York City-based  startup that lets you record TV and watch it online. The funding will go toward Aereo’s expansion to 22 cities, including Philadelphia. [press release]
