who’s getting funded?
Allovue, based out of the Emerging Technology Center in Highlandtown, has closed a $800,000 seed funding round, according to CityBizList. The edtech startup, as Technical.ly Baltimore has reported, develops a web tool for school administrators to track schools’ budgets. (Read more about founder Jess Gartner.)
Citelighter, based out of the Betamore incubator in Federal Hill, has closed a seed funding round worth $1.5 million, according to CityBizList. The edtech startup, which recently relocated from New York City to Baltimore, develops a web tool that helps students with their research and writing assignments.
SameGrain, based out of the Emerging Technology Center in Highlandtown, has raised $550,000 in equity, according to SEC filings. The social networking startup, yet to launch, allows users to “discover” other people with similar interests anonymously. (SameGrain is one of more than 18 companies looking to hire at tomorrow’s NET/WORK jobs fair.)
who’s making moves?
Among new board members named to the Tech Council of Maryland is Christy Wyskiel, the new tech transfer chief at the Johns Hopkins University.
Public relations and marketing firm Evolve Communications has released a new whitepaper for startups that “provides step-by-step instructions for planning and executing a successful product launch,” according to a press release. Startups can download the whitepaper here.
