Twenty years ago, dedicated business leaders with a vision for the region committed their time and resources to launching the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB). In an effort to advocate for regional business growth and economic development, the EAGB brings together talent, resources and innovative practices to propel the Greater Baltimore region forward with other world-class markets. We collaborate and create strategic partnerships with key government, industry and education leaders to help incubate economic opportunity and preserve our business base.
As we rapidly approach our twentieth anniversary in 2017, we currently look to our biggest night of the year: our 2016 annual meeting on Nov. 17 at the Marriott Waterfront Baltimore. It’s an unofficial kickoff into our twentieth year. This night will be an opportunity for some of the region’s most dedicated leaders to network, discuss, and above all, celebrate Baltimorean excellence. We will showcase the commitment of regional leaders, innovators, students and government officials, and the initiatives they are leading and building. In essence, this will be an opportunity for all in attendance to discover “Why Baltimore?”
Tickets are $150, but use the code ‘TECHAUDIENCE’ to get $100 off.

In celebration of our community’s diversity and in an effort to understand why people choose to live, work and raise a family here, our Annual Meeting will truly focus on the essence of what makes this region one-of-a-kind and unique in all that it offers. And while we consider the statistics of job growth and workforce expansion vital, we at EAGB know that the regional facets that give us character and authenticity cannot be quantified. Nostalgia, a rich history, our ambition and pride are all embedded in how we interact in and feel about our home, and in turn, ultimately dictate why we make the choices to contribute to this community.
The concept of “Why Baltimore?” will echo our weekly WYPR podcast of the same name and will explore all the various reasons that people continue to choose the Greater Baltimore region. We proudly house several top universities in not only the area but also the country, and we continue to lead in innovation and technology and draw some of the most talented millennials to set up house and shop in and around the city. The products of our schools dig their roots deep, and then in turn, contribute to the local culture and economy. We pride ourselves on having big city advantages while maintaining a small town feel and that strong sense of community is what keeps us grounded and connected.
So why Baltimore? We anticipate this question to be answered in different ways by many of our guests. And much like this region itself is diverse and complex, we expect the answers to reflect both of those elements. So in the spirit of appreciation for the Greater Baltimore region, we invite all of you to come out, network and explore “Why Baltimore?” Help us celebrate local pride in who and what we are and in what we offer. We are eager to share in the celebrations of the best night of the year.
