Seattle-based Dolly, an on-demand moving service, expanded to Philly at the end of November, backed by close to 50 drivers and movers. In a push to bank on the holidays, the company is offering on-demand Christmas tree delivery.
It works like this: download the company’s app, pick between a Douglas or Frasier fir and schedule a time and place. A mover will show up with the tree and help you set it up if you need. Trees range from $29–$42.
“They’re on their own to decorate, though!” marketing chief Kevin Shawver said of the app’s customers.
The company is currently operating in Boston, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, and Portland, in addition to Philly. Shawver said the Philly expansion made sense due its large urban environment and low rates of car ownership.
The company says it’s aiming to hike up its number of Philly contractors to 300 by the end of 2018.
