DC Startup Week (DCSW) is launching a monthly event series in D.C. next week.
Created as a means of bringing the startup community together, DCSW is an annual and free event series for entrepreneurs and other startup professionals alike. Rachel Koretsky, DCSW organizer and founder of Upace, told Technical.ly that her team decided to launch a monthly event after DCSW attendees kept asking them “what’s next?” and “do I have to wait another year for programming like this?”
Enter StartupYourMorning, a monthly breakfast lecture series for entrepreneurs to discuss hot topics and support each other’s business goals.

“As a team we asked ourselves what can we do throughout the year to continue to support founders and startups in the DMV and that is when StartupYourMorning was born,” Kortesky said. “Each month, we will have a curated speaker who will share their successes, failures and insights live with the chance for the online and in-person audience to ask their burning questions.”
The inaugural StartupYourMorning is scheduled for 10 to 11:30 am at Convene, 575 7th St. NW, on Friday, Nov. 15, and will focus on how to prepare your startup for an exit. DCSW has a larger partnership with Convene to host events throughout the year, Koretsky said.
Tickets are $20, and funds raised from the event series will go toward supporting DCSW and other programming throughout the year.
Ivan Ruzic, VP of software at M&A firm Corum Group, will present at the event. Ruzic has more than 30 years of experience in the software business and previously held executive roles at BEA Systems, Novell and Borland.
