D.C.–based Quad Learning was acquired by Illinois-based foreign student recruitment firm Wellspring International Education in an equity and cash transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Quad Learning is an edtech startup that created American Honors, a program that helps community college students transfer into four-year institutions. Wellspring recruits students from 35 countries globally to over 200 colleges, universities, high schools and language schools in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, a press release states. The combined companies will begin their partnership immediately in both the U.S. and internationally.
“We are excited to be part of Wellspring International to continue the vision of being a global leader in enabling students to be the best they can, and for colleges and universities to have access to the widest and best group of students to attend these institutions. Our belief in the combination of Quad Learning with Wellspring is further underlined by the fact that our existing investors continue to support the newly merged company,” LeRoy Pingho, CEO of Quad Learning, said in a statement.
Wellspring will continue to expand its reach with Quad Learning’s community college partnerships, including the American Success program, which makes a four-year U.S. degree affordable in international markets by allowing students to begin their studies in a community college honors program, the company states.
With Quad Learning’s American Success and American Honors programs, Wellspring will add community colleges in Spokane, Wash., and Philly, Quad Learning’s pioneer cities. Wellspring will also welcome University of Arizona, Manhattan College, and Loyola University New Orleans to its catalogue.
