This San Francisco health IT firm is moving its HQ to Philly

Dabo Health becomes the second Safeguard Scientifics-backed West Coast health IT firm to announce Philly relocation plans this year.

A Safeguard Scientifics-backed health IT firm is moving its headquarters from San Francisco to Philadelphia.

The announcement from Dabo Health, which provides performance data to hospitals, comes with the appointment of a new CEO: Robert Stanek, who used to run Newtown Square-based Catholic Health East.

Dabo Health is moving its headquarters because of the healthcare strengths of Philadelphia and the East Coast in general, Stanek said through a spokeswoman. Stanek’s Philly ties can’t hurt, either. He earned his undergraduate degree at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and his MBA at St. Joseph’s.

Dabo will keep its design and engineering team in San Francisco and plans to hire about 10 employees for its Philadelphia office, Stanek said. The company is still looking for an office in the region.

This is the second Safeguard-backed health IT company to open a Philly office this year. The first was Palo Alto-based Syapse.
