The Eastern Market location has a mix of coworking, private offices and dedicated desks. The space has 24/7 security, storage options, meeting rooms and a rooftop lounge. It also has a modern kitchen with complementary coffee and tea, fitness and health events, ergonomic chairs and free printing.
The space also features rotating art, and the opening will have work by artists Thierry Guillemin and Deborah Coburn, curated by D.C.–based Studio Gallery. The space is also right next to a Trader Joe’s and 128 apartments.
The space has been more than a year in the making, as The Yard announced D.C. expansion plans in May 2016. For the six-year-old company, it’s been a year of expansion to new cities outside its home in New York. The Brooklyn-based company has nine locations in New York, as well as one space in Philadelphia, one location in Boston that opened in November.
A party dubbed ELECTRICD is planned Thursday night, Dec. 7, to officially open the space.
The expansion comes amid a series of coworking openings in D.C. this fall, including a new Spaces in Rosslyn, cove’s latest space in Dupont Circle and the entrance of Philly-based Benjamin’s Desk to the local market via merger with 1776.
