Contactually’s Zvi Band has, apparently, always been into tech

Welcome to Lemonade Stand, a new Technical.ly column about entrepreneurs' first businesses.

Every entrepreneur has to start somewhere. In Lemonade Stand, a Technical.ly column that’s brand new to D.C., we’ll profile a local entrepreneur’s first venture or first job. Tell us about yours.

Code, it seems, is in Zvi Band’s entrepreneurial blood.

The founder and CEO of 7th Street-based Contactually, a CRM software company, has been building websites since way back. “My first job in elementary school, to no surprise, was building websites,” Band told Technical.ly in an email. “I was helping restaurants and small businesses build their very first websites.”

Band is modest about those early explorations of the world wide web, though. These were not, let’s say, his finest work. “I wish any of them were still up, so we could stare in awe at the GIF-encrusted and Comic Sans awfulness,” he wrote. As do we, Zvi, as do we.

Still, that early experience was key in directing the adult professional life to come. “What it taught me early on was that people saw value in the technical skills that, up until then, was just a fun hobby of mine.”
