This summer camp for adults is tech free

The directors of Camp Bonfire want you to unplug. You can even surrender your phone at registration. (There's a discount code in here, too.)

For Jacob Winterstein and Benjamin Camp, summer camp was about living in the moment.
That’s why the duo is keeping a fairly strict no-technology policy at Camp Bonfire, their weekend-long “summer camp for adults” in the Poconos this June.
There will be a sectioned-off area where campers can make a call or send an email, but in general, the directors are asking that campers don’t use their phones or tablets in the cabins or at activities (yoga, poetry writing, ziplining and more). You can even surrender your technology when you enter if you feel like you’ll be too tempted.
“We’re excited to recreate that atmosphere where its about being fully immersed in what’s happening,” said Winterstein, 28, thinking back to summer camp as a kid.
He added: “As adults, there’s less and less opportunities to unplug.” This is one way to create a place that people can do that.
The weekend (June 12-14) costs $479 but use code “technical.ly” to get $100 off. Ticket price includes meals, lodging and activities. There are only 99 spots left, Winterstein told us.

(And if you’re worried about not being able to document your time without your smartphone, Winterstein said they plan on having photographers and videographers on staff to document for you.)
