Main Line real estate stalwart Brandywine Realty Trust announced Friday it will be moving its Radnor, Pa., HQ to the FMC Tower at Cira Centre South.
As PBJ’s Natalie Kostelni first reported, the developers of the building will be relocating its official headquarters to a 46,000-square-foot space on the 16th and 17th floors of the Tower while retaining its suburban operations and other offices around the Philly area.
Out of Brandywine’s 360 employees, 110 will relocate to the building, which has slowly been growing into a small tech cluster within the expanding University City corridor. First, fintech company FreedomPay announced it was joining the tower, then CHOP spinout Spark Therapeutics said it was setting up a few temporary offices at the 730-foot-tall building.
“Brandywine understands that a work and life balance is imperative for living a healthy, well rounded life,” said in a press release Brandywine’s CEO Jerry Sweeney. “By moving into the City of Philadelphia we are making our headquarters more accessible.”
Of course, amenities and work-life balance aside, the company is also encouraged to move into the area thanks to its designation as a Keystone Opportunity Zone (and the tax breaks that come with it). Same deal happened with Nasdaq, which moved its Philly operations out of 1900 Market and into FMC tower last April.
