‘Between Two Founders: Side Stories’ debuts with D. Watkins

For the latest episode of the video series created by Kapowza, a conversation on Twitter turned into an in-person discussion with the best-selling author.

In the inaugural episode of Between Two Founders: Side Stories, host Sean Sutherland speaks with D. Watkins, author of “We Speak For Ourselves: A Word from Forgotten Black America” and professor at the University of Baltimore. The Side Stories offshoot of the video series focuses on local Baltimore luminaries building a business, brand, or movement within the city and doesn’t necessarily have to be startup-focused.

Sutherland, Director of Accounts for Kapowza – a local creative agency – asks about D. Watkins’ recent publishing success, new projects on the horizon including working with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith on a 12-O’Clock Boys movie, and his thoughts on on a misguided collaboration between Pizza Hut and Cheez-Its. What started innocently enough as a conversation on Twitter about the merits of the aforementioned Cheez-Its Pizza, blossomed into the video you can watch below, where Sutherland and Watkins speak about perceptions of Baltimore.

Between Two Founders: Side Stories was filmed and streamed through Facebook Live on Kapowza’s page. If you’re interested in being featured in an upcoming episode, shoot Sean@kapowza.co a note and tell him what you want to talk about.

Tune in to Facebook Live on Kapowza’s account on November 11 for the next episode of Between Two Founders where Sutherland will interview Aaron Chang, CEO and founder of Renalert, recent winner of $25K through Betamore’s Beta City pitch competition.
