Canton-based Barcoding, Inc. announced the acquisition of Houston, Texas–based Danforth Systems on Thursday.
The deal will add 30-year-old Danforth’s handheld barcode scanner and RFID inventory tracking offerings to Barcoding’s supply chain automation offerings. Danforth also helps healthcare, retail and logistics companies with mobile apps, improved workflow processes and asset management, according to a news release. Terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition will help Barcoding expand in Texas, company president Shane Snyder said in a statement.
“Texas has one of the fastest-growing economies in the United States. As a growth company, this strategic acquisition is an opportunity to better support Barcoding’s existing Fortune 500 and other enterprise clients in the state, as well as expand our business in that territory,” Snyder said.
Barcoding also has offices in Chicago and Lynwood, Washington, and indicated the deal will allow it to have a support model that “follows the sun.” It has also acquired companies in those areas including Miles Technologies and Versatile Mobile Systems. Closer to home, it also acquired Southeast Baltimore company PowerUp.
In Baltimore, 20-year-old Barcoding is planning a move to Bank St. in Highlandtown, where it is renovating a former garment factory.
