The Baltimore Creatives Acceleration Network (BCAN) opened applications for the next cohort of its accelerator program.
The Founder Fellows program is a business training program designed for creative entrepreneurs who are ready to go “all in,” according to organizers. BCAN, which is an initiative launched by MICA to provide resources for entrepreneurs throughout the city, launched the program last year and revamped the program for this year’s edition.

The program will run 12 weeks, with the five companies that are selected receiving a $5,000 seed investment, said BCAN Engagement Manager Jenné Afiya Matthews. Previously, one company received funding following a pitch night.
“Participants will receive holistic and intensive support to guide them through refining their business models and developing their plans for growth and sustainability,” BCAN stated.
BCAN is also providing mentorship, pro-bono financial services, access to an investor network and office space. BCAN is partnering with Conscious Venture Lab, Startup Portal, DLA Piper, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and the Builder Fund on the program.
Applications are available here and are open until Aug. 16.
