In the past fiscal year, Temple University has received nearly $2.5 million — an all-time high — from 24 licensing agreements for technology developed by Temple researchers, Temple University’s University Communications reports. That’s up from $1.2 million in licensing revenue from the fiscal year 2010-2011. The report points to support from firms like Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners and BioStrategy Partners who have invested $550,000 in Temple over the past year.

Wayne-based Business Intelligence International recently raised $375,000, according to an SEC filing. The firm owns Alignalytics, a company that advises on topics like IT management and risk and performance management.
Two state representatives in the Philadelphia suburbs held a hearing on job creation and innovation in the life science and tech sectors, Main Line Media News reports. The experts who spoke at the hearing frequently mentioned Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners as a crucial part of Pennsylvania’s bio-tech sector, the report said.
First Round Capital participated in a $5 million round for San Francisc0-based Pocket Change, a virtual currency startup, TechCrunch reports.
Comcast Ventures was one investor in DocuSign‘s recent funding announcement. The electronic signature firm raised $47.5 million, according to a press release. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round.
