The Baltimore chapter of the Awesome Foundation will award two $1,000 grants on Dec. 1, and the deadline to apply is Nov. 1. The grants will be the fifth and sixth grants the local chapter is awarding.

Founded in Boston in 2009, the Awesome Foundation gives monthly grants of $1,000 through its nationwide network of chapters, each of which raises the money from about 10 local “micro-financers,” to different projects in the arts and sciences.
In August, nonprofit Code in the Schools received a $1,000 grant to help fund its video-game development program for Baltimore city school students.
