This Arlington, Va.-based IT will be working with a U.S. department to provide AI services.

Accenture Federal Services (AFS) announced that it has won a position on the intelligent automation/AI (IAAI) contract from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The firm will provide IAAI services to HHS’s Program Support Center.

The five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is valued at $49 million and will help provide the Program Support Center with advanced tech to improve the department’s business processes. The press release states that AFS will compete for tasks orders to pilot, test and implement advanced tech like robotic process automation, machine learning, AI and more.

This isn’t the first time AFS and HHS are partnering, as AFS said it currently works on several of the department’s contracts. One includes a contract where AFS is the prime developer overseeing some technical architecture and operations for Healthcare.gov, the press release states.

“AFS draws upon Accenture’s vast commercial experience in AI and health to identify and implement new capabilities that support the Departments’ goals to fundamentally transform, enhance and deliver public sector healthcare,” Greg Adler, who leads AFS’ work across the Department, said in a statement.

With this contract, AFS will also use its newly expanded Digital Studio’s capabilities to work with HHS. As Technical.ly DC previously reported, the studio features AI, analytics and other advanced technologies to help federal agencies better connect with their customers and workforces digitally.

AFS isn’t the only firm working with HHS on AI tech,  Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics Information Technology, an IT unit of the large defense contractor, also recently announced that it will be working with the department under this same contract.
