5 things to do at the Unofficial Art Loop

Think the first Friday in August will be dull with no official Art Loop? Think again.

Wilmington’s official Art Loop is taking a summer break — but that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to do this Friday, Aug. 3.

NextFab, DCAD, The Delaware Contemporary, The Lofts and Spaceboy will all be hosting downtown events.

Here’s the rundown:

  • NextFab’s Summer Art Show will feature local makers and artists, starting at 5:00.

  • Local + Famous, a popup art fair hosted by Terrance Vann and Alim Smith, will showcase 25 artists at DCAD.
  • The Delaware Contemporary isn’t taking any breaks — their August Art Loop features six opening receptions, including a staff exhibition, a lobby pop-up, outdoor live music by Ed Dwornick with Stump Junction, food trucks and cash bar.
  • The Lofts at 2nd & LOMA will be hosting a happy hour Art Loop Featuring Liz and Iris, free-form multimedia visual and performance artists.
  • Spaceboy is hosting the KEEP IT COOL Music, Art & Comedy Series at Humble Park (4th & Shipley), featuring live music by Gozer, EyeBawl and The Bad Larrys, local art and food trucks. Starting at 7:00 p.m. and going to 11:00. Make this your final stop.
