We ask local tech leaders for their reading list. Check ‘em out here.
How do you tackle your Sunday mornings? If you’re like a lot of us, they start with coffee and plenty of reading material. We caught up with one data-analytics focused individual last week, and that’s CompassRed founder Patrick Callahan.
We asked Callahan to clue us in on what he tends to read, as we’ve asked others before, and he tipped us off to five sources that he checks out every Sunday. Each is a newsletter, and they either fit into categories of “mindless” or related to work. Sometimes they relate to absolutely wild stuff like AI, and other times they’re rooted in discussion and philosophy.
Consider our Sunday morning plans made. Here’s the rundown:
- Brain Pickings — “Every Sunday morning, get the week’s most interesting articles in one distilled digest straight to your inbox.” This site collects reads about love, philosophy, writing and lots more.
- Farnam Street — A blog that aims to teach people “how to make better decisions, create new ideas, and avoid stupid errors.” Their newsletter is delivered every Sunday.
- The Exponential View — A project by Azeem Azhar, a former journalist and current entrepreneur. The most recent weekly issue covered Trump’s campaign’s “weaponised AI,” internet business models and advances of genetic engineering and artificial intelligence.
- The Monday Morning CompassRed “What We’re Reading” newsletter — Wait a minute, Patrick, this is your newsletter! Yes, fine, it’s good stuff. You can dig into a sample here.
- Benedict’s Newsletter — Finally, Patrick recommends a weekly collection of links from venture capitalist Benedict Evans.
