3rd Ward recently announced the winners of its Learn Make Inspire contest, which asked Philadelphians to show off what they’re making. The winners will get gallery space inside the Kensington maker and education space.
Artist Emily Manalo Ruiz won first place in the contest that was judged by a jury that, full disclosure, included this reporter. Her piece, a maritime-inspired wall hanging, was inspired by her estranged father, a retired navy man.
Bernadette Dye won the people’s choice award with her homemade soaps that she’s selling to support Philadelphia area companion animals and homeless pets.
