Ladham, Maryland-based 2U announced that its CFO Catherine Graham will be retiring from the company next year, effective April 1, 2020, or upon the appointment of her successor.

“For the past seven years, Cathy has been an indispensable part of 2U’s success, an important member of our leadership team, and a valued advisor to me personally,” 2U Cofounder and CEO Christopher Paucek said in a news release. “Her financial acumen and effectiveness in communicating complexities with clarity have been a hallmark of her tenure and a strength we can benefit from in the future.”

Graham has been serving as the edtech startup’s CFO since April 2012, her LinkedIn profile reads. She will continue to oversee 2U’s fiscal year-end reporting requirements and provide support during her replacement’s transition. The edtech startup said in the press release that it hopes to continue working with Graham as a strategic advisor once she retires.

Graham has had a long tenure working as a CFO for various companies. In the 90’s, she was the CFO for DavCo Restaurants and from 1998 to 2002, she was in a VP role as well as CFO for VIA NET.WORKS, a Reston, Virginia-based company that provides organizations with internet support. Immediately before joining 2U, Graham was an EVP and CFO at Chantilly, Virginia-based Online Resources Corp., a company that provides electronic payment services, for 10 years.

“From the first day I joined, working alongside such a talented and dedicated team of 2Utes and leadership colleagues who all share the same passion for our mission has been a highlight of my career,” Graham said in a press release. “During those seven years, we’ve positively impacted the lives of over 100,000 students while building a great business and an amazing company, and I look forward to continuing to help further the company’s mission.”

2U said it is working with executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates on an external search for its next CFO.
