Washington Post opens dev center in Reston

40 employees will work out of the 5,000-square-foot space.

The Washington Post is opening a new office in Reston, Va. Only this one is not a newsroom, but a software development shop.
“We have software developers and designers embedded with our journalists and our sales teams,” said Post CIO Shailesh Prakash in a press release Thursday. “This office will ensure that we provide a convenient center of innovation for our many talented engineers and designers who live in Northern Virginia and also help us attract the best technology talent the region has to offer.”
The 138-year-old newspaper, which might soon be licensing its internally made CMS software, will have 40 employees in the new 5,000-square-foot office at 1840 Michael Faraday Drive.
