Want a job in tech? Here’s the agenda for our NET/WORK Philly jobs fair

More than 60 hiring businesses, startups and organizations will be at the NET/WORK jobs fair on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Union Transfer. Make a day of it with dev-focused workshops, career development, resume reviews, networking, free coffee, head shots and a happy hour.

Our tech jobs fair, NET/WORK is coming up Feb. 10, 2015. Head to Union Transfer to meet with 60 local organizations who are currently looking for tech talent; see the current list of hiring companies here.
A range of development, design, marketing and management-related positions are available. Employers are seeking talent in:

  • Front-end design
  • Back-end development (PHP and Django)
  • Object-oriented programming (including Python, Java and other mobile and database development)
  • Software and other engineering disciplines
  • UX
  • UI
  • Product and project management
  • IT support
  • Marketing

Full-time, part-time, temporary and freelance work will be available. Those interested in internships, connecting with potential cofounders or networking for future opportunities are encouraged to come out.
Take advantage of high-level development talks and professional development while you’re there. Here’s the agenda:

1:00 p.m.

  • Doors open. Visit the expo, coffee shop and Expert Hub all day for resume tips, headshots and networking.

1:30 p.m.

2:00 p.m.

  • DEV TALK upstairs: Web accessibility presentation by LeeAnn Kinney of Girl Develop It. Are your websites excluding some users? Learn more about designing with accessibility in mind — and building a better web experience for everyone. This workshop will give you a brief overview on the principles of accessible design and show you how easy it is to get started building websites that everyone can use.
  • In the EXPERT HUB: Optimizing your LinkedIn with Chris Burns of InternU.

3:00 p.m.

  • DEV TALK upstairs: An advanced discussion on Backbone.js and the important role open source plays in a developers growth, from Squareknot CTO Jide Osan.
  • In the EXPERT HUB: Closing the gender gap: Putting more women in tech jobs, from Leslie Chapman, principal software engineer at Comcast.

4:00 p.m.

  • DEV TALK upstairs: An advanced discussion on Python and Performance from Tom Panzarella of the Philadelphia Python Users Group. In this talk we will “prove” that Python is slow, dig in to understand why, survey some of the performance tools available in Python, and then exploit three of these tools looking at code and taking metrics.
  • In the EXPERT HUB: Negotiating compensation with Anthony Gold.

5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

  • In the EXPERT HUB: Ace That Interview with Nick Shiftan of Curlate.
  • HAPPY HOUR in the vendor expo.
