Spice up your life this Tuesday with these events happening today:
The University of Delaware will hold a grand opening for its new nanofabrication facility, which was postponed from January because of snow. Harold Craighead, a professor of applied and engineering physics at Cornell University, will deliver a keynote address at 3 p.m. at Mitchell Hall, and a reception will follow from 4-6 p.m. at the Harker ISE Lab. The nanofab facility is an 8,500-square-foot room that has advanced nanotechnology machines capable of creating devices that are hundreds of times small than a strand of human hair. UD researchers, industry partners, government partners and entrepreneurs are expected to use the machinery, and the university believes the facility will attract tenants to the STAR Campus.
First State .Net is hosting a meetup at 6:30 p.m. called, “Scaling Systems: Architectures that Grow.” Kendall Miller, a cofounder of Gibraltar Software, will be speaking. (Gibraltar is an Independent Software Vendor that develops and markets commercial applications for .Net developers.) The evening will cover how to design your application to handle rapid development while creating scalable systems. Specific code will focus on .Net, but the principles can apply across several languages. RSVP here:
