For the month of August, Technical.ly’s editorial calendar theme is Technologists of Color, and we’ll aim to spend the month sharing the technical and entrepreneurial contributions of Philadelphia people of color.
In a series of guest posts we’ll publish throughout the month, we will capture the voices of local stakeholders. It’s a response to the accurate observation that underrepresented groups in tech (women, people of color, LGBTQ+) are all too often asked to speak about their identity and not their areas of expertise.
We will aim to reverse that trend by showcasing technologists of color and their expertise on areas like career switching, venture capital access, technical hiring and more.
But we’re also launching a special edition of the ever-popular realLIST, our annual rundown of promising local startups: the realLIST of color, focusing on people instead of companies.
All we want you to do is take a moment and share with us the name of an outstanding technologist or entrepreneur of color whose contribution to the community has been impactful. Maybe they’ve founded a successful business that employs dozens. Maybe they’re a leading software engineer who inspires others. (Maybe they’re someone you can find in the List of Humans directory for diverse experts.)
Nominate someoneTell us who should make the list by Aug. 27.
