From city GIS staffer Dave Walk comes Philly Hoods, an API to find out what neighborhood you’re in. Since the tool is an API and not an app, it’s more geared toward developers. It should be a nice addition to upcoming hackathons.
It’s a side project from Walk, meaning it’s not affiliated with the city, like the crime mapping app he built last winter. The API uses Azavea‘s neighborhood boundaries, so to be sure, expect some debate between accuracy, as comes with any neighborhood demarcating.
