3D printing is hot right now.
But if you don’t know how to use a 3D printer properly, there’s no point in having one. NextFab staffers Chris Thompson and Brandon Boulden say they see it happen all the time: someone buys a 3D printer, downloads a file from Thingiverse to 3D printer, it doesn’t work and they get frustrated. Then the 3D printer goes in the closet.
That’s why the Washington Avenue makerspace is hosting a two-day class called “Making a Maker,” which will teach you how to use a free software for computer-aided design and how to use a Bukito 3D printer to make household items like a custom light switch or a towel rod holder. The classes will be held Feb. 21-22.
Prices start at $500 for members and $850 for non-members. For a higher price, you can go home with a Bukito 3D printer, too.
