Technology has transformed human resources. Sometimes known as people operations, a typical HR manager in 2021 works in tech, often using technologies like artificial intelligence.
Because of this, HR departments have their own tech stacks in the the different integrated digital tools used to streamline the hiring process, benefits management, etc.
When we talk about HR tech, the applicant tracking systems (ATS) that organize, track and filter applications are among the most commonly used tools in recruitment; products include RecruiterBox and Greenhouse. But an ATS is just one tool in the recruiting tech stack.
The Introduced by Technical.ly 2021 panel “What is Your Recruiting Stack?” zoomed in on a group of HR experts to share their takes — and some of the tools they consider essential. Here are some of the other essentials, according to the panelists:
Sourcing tool Hiretual
“In addition to an ATS, I think what pairs well with that is a great sourcing tool,” said Taja Davis Williams of recruiting platform Jane.HR. “Hiretuel has been a helpful tool — it makes sure I’m not overlapping messaging per position per client, it allows me to stack my messaging, it’s helpful in organizing the amount of times you’re essentially bugging someone to check out what you have going on in an efficient way. In a way that it gives you the best ROI.”
Personalized web portal generator Guide (integrates with Greenhouse)
“The userface that is really nice,” said Mary Jantsch, head of people for Philly startup Nextmv. “You can send a link with a personalized landing page with information like who they’ll be speaking to and what to expect in the interview. You can even add details like ‘Our office runs cold, wear a jacket’ — those things that show how thoughtful you’re being about the candidate experience.”
OneDigital’s benefits app
“We have an app where we can put all of your benefits information into a digital wallet,” said Scott Solomon of employee benefits firm One Digital. “It will also track your deductibles, coinsurance, anything you’re spending out of pocket, and it has telemedicine built right into it.”
Chatbot Mya
“It’s a really clever tool, with a really sleek, natural-speaking bot,” Job.com cofounder Arran Stewart said. “As someone who is passionate about artificial intelligence, I know how difficult that is.” Automated interview tools have their detractors, but he believes the younger generation will be less turned off by it: “For the Generation Z who spend their lives filming each other using Snapchat, YouTube and TikTok, where they’re talking to a camera that isn’t talking back to them, they will be more receptive to it.”
