Why does Philadelphia have such an impressive design scene?
Because the city has “that great jumpstart culture,” said designer Hilary Sedgwick in an interview with Rad Girls, a new website that celebrates local women.
“It’s easy to meet like-minded people that you can spend time with and collaborate with and learn from. You have a lot of letterpress, screen print, illustrators, and typographers. To be able to mingle with that many different types of people because they’re so accessible — it just breeds this great culture.”
Sedgwick, a UArts grad, is a designer at Center City ad agency allen & gerritsen and was previously art director at Fishtown’s O3 World.
