Beer flowed at gb.tc‘s holiday party at Union Craft Brewing in Woodberry on Thursday night.
But the evening’s highlight was the announcement of the winners of gb.tc’s inaugural (and, perhaps, only, because that’s how they roll) Tech Ornament Contest. The rules were simple: make sure it can hang from a tree and don’t design anything that needs to be plugged into a wall.

Yair Flicker of Smart Logic served as the judge, and the three winners were:

  1. In first place, Ed Mullin‘s “Jesus Nativity Scene 2.0,” as Flicker called it. Mullin’s prize was a pack of Nutterz and an old AOL CD-ROM. Vintage, just like a fine wine.
  2. In second place, Baltimore Node co-founder John Cutonilli and his mini-Arduino ornament. Hooked up to a 9V battery, the Arduino blinked out “gb.tc” in Morse code. For that, Cutonilli is now the proud owner of a miniature pink flamingo.
  3. In third place, gb.tc’s own Kelly McKew, whose Google Chrome-ball won her a squeaky crab.

Photos of each ornament are below.
