Fosscon 2012: open source software conference at Venturef0rth this Saturday

12 talks and five in-depth workshops, plus making with Hive e76

It’ll be an open source software fest this Saturday at Venturef0rth with the annual FossCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference). Here’s what’s planned for this year’s event.

Register HERE — it’s free, but you can help keep the conference free by donating $25.

Along with 12 talks and five in-depth workshops, FossCon coordinator Jonathan Simpson says hackerspace Hive76 will have its own room where attendees can get their hands dirty. For an extra materials fee, Simpson says attendees can learn how to solder, build their own flat-panel speaker and learn about Arduino microcontrollers and take one home.

Bradley M. Kuhn, executive director of the Free Software Conservancy, will be the conference’s keynote speaker and talk about promoting free software development through nonprofits.

The Ubuntu Pennsylvania team will also be on hand all day to help people install Ubuntu, Simpson says.

Here’s the list of speakers, which will continue to be updated until Saturday.
