Can we vote right now that Thanksgiving is the best holiday of the year? Food, family, football and no gift pressure make it an ideal combination for a (relatively) stress free holiday. But what’s good for your stomach isn’t necessarily good for our events calendar. The upcoming holiday has left us a little thin.
Before you scuttle off to Mom’s house for some cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, there are a few events worth attending. After all, don’t you want to be prepared to talk about Linux when Uncle Mike asks you what you have been up to?
Later today, famous West Coast web hosting company Laughing Squid along with one of the brains behind the original Ignite events are having beers in Old City. Then, tomorrow, the Philadelphia Linux Users Group group gets one last meeting in before going home.
All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more.

Monday, November 23: Laughing Squid ain’t your ordinary Web hosting firm. The decade-old company is a key stakeholder in the San Francisco technology community. Founder Scott Beale will be rolling into town along with O’Reilly’s Brady Forrest. The duo plan on having a meetup at Triumph, the micro-brewery that might be better known as the restaurant that can leave your clothes smelling like hops when you leave. Oh, and they have killer burgers. 7 p.m. Old City. RSVP. [view more events]
Tuesday, November 24: The Linux fanboys and girls will be gathering at hack space Hive76 to talk about their project work and about how to build a WiFi antenna. And, if you have recovered from spending your Monday at Triumph, the group will be heading to TJ’s Restaurant and Drinkery afterwords. I suggest you do, because there ain’t no party like an open source party. 7 p.m. Center City. INFO. [view more events]
Thursday, November 26: Apparently on Thursday, Americans will be gathering to celebrate this “Thanksgiving” thing. Turn off the computer and help your Aunt with the turkey would ya? Oh, and be sure to root for the Oakland Raiders to beat the Dallas Cowboys. All Day. Your house. INFO. [view more events]
If you have an event that you think we should be listing, email us or fill out our submission form for best results. We promise that no submission falls in to the contact form netherworld.
