Andrei Shulgac hopes to surf the wave of wave shooters.
Elite Force was one of 25 games on display at Artscape’s Gamescape exhibit earlier this month.

The game plays like Borderlands mixed with the firefight mode of Halo: Reach and a dash of Counter-Strike. Players fight-off round after round of aliens, unlocking and buying new weapons between waves.
“It’s just a mix of early 2000s, ’90s fast-paced shooters,” said Shulgac, founder of Bel Air-based Salokin Games. The game took two years to complete, he said.

Like many of those old-school shooters, the game’s story only serves as an excuse to zap aliens. In the future, humanity, re-colonizing Earth years after an alien attack, has to clear out a new legion of invaders. The player is mankind’s hero.
As you progress in the game, you can unlock weapons like mines and EMP grenades.
A Mac version of Elite Force is in the works, Shulgac said.
Last week we profiled another game demo’d at Gamescape: Battle Prism.
