Yo, Philly internet researchers: Comcast wants to fund your work

Penn and Drexel researchers were among the grantees last year.

Comcast’s internet research Innovation Fund, a $1 million project now in its third year, is now accepting applications. They’re interested in topics like open source development, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things. Grantees can win up to $150,000.
Last year, the fund backed research projects at Drexel and Penn. One Drexel grantee is working on how to create better digital libraries, while another at Penn is researching broadband adoption strategies. (Local applicants won’t get any special treatment, though, Comcast spokesman David McGuire said.)
Comcast is accepting applications on a rolling basis.

We’re waiting to hear back from McGuire about intellectual property that comes out of the research projects.

Full disclosure: Comcast is the title sponsor of Philly Tech Week 2016, which is organized by Technical.ly's events team.
